Sandstone Trail Work Days with the Access Fund

af-conservation-team

Join the Minnesota Climbers Association and the Access Fund – Conservation Team for a few days at Sandstone. The MCA will be hosting the Conservation Team as they roll through town on their national tour. The Team will help build trails and boardwalks at the Eldon bouldering area. Bring friends, camp, and get some climbing in, too!

When to Meet
Below is a tentative schedule for the 3 day event:

Thursday, August 18 at TBD
Planning and site visit with the Conservation Team. Some work could start Thursday. It will mainly be a day to get material for the boardwalks.

Friday, August 19 at 9 am
Full work day. We will try and get as much done as possible. We will need volunteers to help with dirt trail work, hauling material for boardwalks, and constructing the boardwalks.

Saturday, August 20 at 9 am
Finish what we can. Hopefully, with a full crew, we can get the main trail moved to where Banning SP officials want it and boardwalks built over seeps. Food provided.

What to Bring
Tools will be provided. Dress appropriately. Wear clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Work gloves, water, snacks, and bug spray are recommended.

Where to Meet
We will start each day at the Eldon Parking Lot with an introduction from the Conservation Team. From Robinson Park, take Hwy 123 east across the Kettle River. Turn left on MN 57 and left again on Old Wagon Rd. Continue down the road as it turns to gravel. Pass through the gate and continue to the parking lot.
