Sandstone Ice Festival
Join us January 6th—8th, 2023 for the next Sandstone Ice Festival
Sandstone Ice Festival is a fixture in the Midwestern ice climbing scene. The vibrant festival celebrates the best of winter adventure sports. It is a gathering of kindred spirits who share a love for all things cold. The Sandstone Ice Festival reaches winter lovers from around the Midwest and Canada.
Come ice climb with friends from the past 15 years of festivals, take a basic, intermediate, women’s, or advanced clinic, scope out new gear at the vendor village and gear swap, warm up by the bonfire, and enjoy a brew from a local MN brewery (after climbing, of course). You can also set you’re own ropes for climbing; the clinics will not take-up the whole quarry.
Never been ice climbing but interested in trying it? With gear rentals, clinics, and a beautiful quarry of farmed and natural ice, the Sandstone Ice Fest is the perfect opportunity to dip your toe into this fun sport!
Friday, January 6th
Open climbing ALL DAY
11 am — Registration & demo gear pick-up begins
12 pm — 4 pm Clinics
4:30 pm — Demo gear due back
5pm — 9 pm Festival Kick-Off Celebration and Happy Hour at SandRocks (421 Commercial Avenue North)
6 pm — Bonfire at The Sandstone Ice Park
9pm – close – After Party at Woody’s Bar (1038 MN-23)
Saturday, January 8th
7 am — Registration & demo gear pick-up begins
8 am — 12 pm Morning clinics
9:30 pm — 3:30 pm Full day clinics
12:10 pm — Morning demo gear due back
12:30 pm — 4:30 pm Afternoon clinics
5 pm — Demo gear due back
5 pm — Osprey Wilds Open to climbers. Pizza and light apps available.
7pm - Presentation
9 pm — The Raffle!
11:00 pm -- Bonfire at The Sandstone Ice Park
Sunday, January 9th
9 am — Registration & demo gear pick-up begins
9:30 pm — 1:30 pm Clinics
2 pm — Demo gear due back
